How to sync Shopify inventory from a Google Sheet
Keep stock or prices in a Google Sheet and have Shopify follow it: how to share the sheet, set up the columns and sync it on a schedule.
A Google Sheet is often the easiest place to keep stock numbers: a supplier edits it, a warehouse team updates it from their phones, or you paste a report into it each morning. Here is how to have Shopify follow it.
1. Lay out the sheet
Put column names in the first row and one item per row after that. At a minimum you need:
- a column with the SKU or barcode that matches your Shopify variants, and
- a column with the quantity (and, if you want, price, compare-at price or cost).
Text like "In stock" or "Sold out" and values like ">50" are fine; Feedguard understands them.
2. Share it so it can be read
In Google Sheets, click Share, set General access to Anyone with the link as a Viewer, and copy the link. If the sheet has several tabs, open the tab you want first so the link includes it. Anyone with the link can view the sheet, so keep private notes on another tab or in another file.
3. Add it as a feed
In Feedguard, choose Web address or Google Sheet link and paste the link. Click Read file: the columns are detected and the likely SKU and quantity columns are picked for you. Choose the Shopify location to update, then save. The first sync stops at a preview so you can check the changes.
4. Schedule it
Pick how often to sync, from once a day to every 15 minutes, depending on your plan. Every run is listed in Sync history with its changes, and can be undone.
